Tie Plates mount between the rail and the tie to provide a means of keeping the rail between the ties when hand spiking track.

I've been using these on hand laid track on a bridge that I'm working on.
The base metal look is not very realistic, so I paint them a rust color with a airbrush (spray can enamel would work too).
They're a nice fit for LGB code 332 track, and after they're painted and spiked down they look just like the real thing!
